Frequently Asked Questions

We get a lot of the same questions from IT managers, sysadmins, and folks exploring career changes. Here are the ones that come up most.

About Our Courses

What kind of training do you actually offer?
We run professional development courses for system administrators. That covers automation, monitoring, security hardening, cloud operations, and a foundations bootcamp for career changers. Everything is hands-on — you'll work in real lab environments, not slideshows. We keep classes small (eight people max) so the instructor can actually help when something breaks. Which it will, because that's the point.
Are the courses only for people who already work in IT?
Most of our tracks are built for working sysadmins, yes. But we also run a foundations bootcamp twice a year for people moving into IT from other fields. It's 10 weeks and covers everything you'd need before landing a junior admin role. Fair warning: the pace is fast and the homework is real. It's not a lecture series.
Do you teach networking or database administration?
No. Those aren't our specialties and we don't pretend they are. We can point you to people who do them well if you need a referral.
How long are the training tracks?
Our standard tracks run six weeks with evening sessions (usually Tuesday and Thursday). The foundations bootcamp for career changers is 10 weeks. We can adjust the schedule for team engagements — some companies prefer daytime sessions spread over a longer period.

Scheduling & Logistics

Can you train our team on-site at our office?
Yes, and it's actually how most of our team engagements work. We bring the lab equipment and materials to your location. All we need is a room with power outlets, decent Wi-Fi, and enough table space for laptops. If you're in the Charlotte metro area, there's no travel surcharge. Outside the metro, we'll figure something out — just ask.
Do you offer remote training?
We do. Remote sessions use the same labs and curriculum as in-person ones. The main difference is you'll connect to the lab environment through a browser instead of working on local hardware. That said, we're honest about the trade-off: in-person tends to be more effective for most people. Fewer distractions, easier to ask questions, better retention. Choose what works for your team's situation.
How far in advance should we book?
At least four to six weeks for team engagements. We build custom curricula, and that takes time. For individual seats in a scheduled track, two weeks is usually enough — but popular tracks fill up fast, especially in spring and fall.

Pricing & Payment

How much does training cost?
It depends on the track, group size, and whether you want on-site or remote delivery. We quote per engagement because every team has different needs. As a ballpark: a six-week team track for three people ran about $8,400 in our most recent case study. Reach out and we'll give you a real number for your situation. No pressure, no games with pricing.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes, starting at five seats.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel with at least 14 days' notice before your track starts and you'll get a full refund. Between 7 and 14 days, we refund 50%. Less than 7 days out, no refund — but we'll let you transfer your seat to a future session at no extra charge. We know plans change. We just need enough lead time to fill the spot.
